WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Event Technology & Registration Project Manager (platform delivery specialist) will serve as both a lead and consultant on small to medium scale in-person and/or digital events simultaneously. This role is responsible for project managing event registration and digital platforms, which includes working with clients and other stakeholders to build effective event technology experiences, overseeing vendors, and actively managing the attendee registration process.

 

This role manages the digital experiences of events in their entirety, in some cases independently and in other cases leading or in conjunction with a team. This role will lead and supervise Opus employees filling event support roles on projects and ensure that planning schedules are met, budgets are balanced, Opus and client processes are implemented, and client needs are anticipated and exceeded.

 

This is a client-facing role, which will work directly alongside Opus Project Managers, Technical Architects, Configuration Specialists, and Attendee Support personnel to deliver unforgettable experiences and delight our Fortune 100 & 500 corporate clientele.

 

YOU SHOULD HAVE

  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant role, with strong preference for experience in corporate events
  • Proven experience in registration management on events from discovery to execution
  • Preferred experience with event technology platforms such as RainFocus, Swoogo, Stova, Cvent, Eventbase, Airtable 
    • Strong preference for existing RainFocus experience
  • Preferred experience with group housing experience, session content management and tools and session scanning/lead retrieval management
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year institution is preferred

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • High-Volume Portfolio Oversight: Serve as overall client-facing Event Technology project manager on small to mid-sized platform configuration projects for an Opus key account; manage a high volume of concurrent event technology projects.
  • Event Technology Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in event platforms and tools; understand functionality, user experience, and troubleshooting; participate in technical discussions, platform demos, and consult clients on configuration best practices with support. Technology includes microsites, registration sites, content catalogs and agenda builders, speaker/exhibitor portals, mobile apps, and attendee networking modules.
  • Stakeholder and Project Leadership: Act as the primary contact for clients, internal stakeholders, and vendors for event technology and registration workstreams. Lead recurring client/team meetings, and technical discussions. Drive cross-functional alignment from intake through post-event closeout. Act as primary escalation point between client needs and technical execution teams.
  • Schedule and Intake Management: Develop and drive workback schedules by project for multiple concurrent projects and ensure seamless delivery across overlapping deadlines.
  • Technical Consultation and Requirements Gathering: Participate in scoping discussions. Translate client business objectives into scope documents, technical requirements, and functional specs for configuration specialists.
  • Technical Resource Delegation: Brief, direct, and oversee configuration specialists in the building, configuration, and maintenance of event technology modules.
  • Governance and Quality Assurance: Establish and adhere to platform setup standards, templates, and maintain governance requirements; perform user-acceptance testing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Process & Template Optimization: Maintain and continuously refine standard operating procedures, documentation, and templates to increase speed and quality of delivery.
  • Risk and Issue Mitigation: Proactively identify scope creep, timeline risks, or technical bottlenecks; implement mitigation plans to keep projects within time and budget constraints, escalate critical issues to senior management as appropriate. 
  • Onsite Operations Oversight: Manage setup workflows and technical logistics for on-site deployments (e.g., badge pick-up, session scanning) when required, coordinating vendors, onsite support teams.
  • Additional Project Support: As bandwidth allows, serve as overall Event Technology and Registration lead on small to mid-sized projects, or as a workstream lead on large projects. Include pre-planning roles and onsite-only roles in registration, session scanning and other event technology workstreams. 
  • Administrative/Operational Support: Participate in internal trainings and creating resources; recommend process and resource improvements. 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

  • Supervises work of project team members from Event Technology & Registration 
  • May oversee work of temporary staff deployed onsite at events

  • Mathematical skills - Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to create, monitor and understand budgets, debits, credits, and reconciliation.
  • Reasoning skills - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

HOW WE’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between $66,000 and $78,000. Our salary ranges are based on third-party national average market compensation analysis. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
